CONSERVATION SUMMARY

Lynda K. Rockwood provides consulting services for individual artists, private collectors, and administrators of public art collections.  Lynda has extensive experience with mixed media, foundry, and fabrication techniques.

Individual artists consult regarding materials, fabrication methods, mold-making, and scale model construction in support of their work on public art commissions.

Private art collectors consult regarding artwork condition, maintenance, and restoration.

Public art administrators contract for evaluations of proposals with an emphasis on preventative conservation, condition surveys, form development, and expertise supporting implementation and management of conservation programs.

SELECTED CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT

2011 – 2013

Participate in the re-siting of Visual Dialogue, a bronze and concrete sculpture by Lynda K. Rockwood, commissioned in 1982 by the Washington State Arts Commission and the Snohomish County School District.  Oversee the casting of the new concrete base.  Assist Fabrication Specialties Ltd. with the removal, restoration, and re-installation of the sculpture at the newly-constructed school.

2006 – 2009

Coordinate the development of a conservation management program including organizing artist project files, designing new conservation forms, and compiling conservation services and contact information.  Survey sculpture collection and complete respective condition reports.  Solicit conservation and restoration estimates for specific artworks and oversee restoration in 2008.  Municipal Art Collection, Tacoma Arts Commission, Tacoma, WA

1995 – 1997

Survey the condition of 73 artworks, photograph, and supervise professional restoration of 19 outdoor sculptures / totem poles / statues.  Develop procedures, forms, and oversee all aspects of professional treatments by conservators A.
